Saturday July 8th, 12-6pm Hike, 7pm Slide Presentation
Join veteran hiker and historian Greg Walter on a walk in the backcountry of the Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve. This will be an easy, three mile round trip walk with a 500 ft elevation gain/loss starting around the 5800 ft level-one of the highest elevation start points in the region. There will be magnificent views of local wilderness areas, Mt Shasta, and the expansion area known as the Oregon Caves Preserve.
Assemble in front of the Chalet at 12 noon for the hike.
Ater the hike, stay for the Portland based mountaineering group, The Mazamas, will present slides from their 1913 trip to the "Josephine Caves" including a photo gallery of the Redwood Highway and the Oregon Caves spanning the 1920s to the 1940s.
